A non-Lambertian photometric stereo under perspective projection Research Articles

Min Li, Chang-yu Diao, Duan-qing Xu, Wei Xing, Dong-ming Lu,liminlim@126.com,dcy@zju.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 8,   Pages 1119-1266 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900156

Abstract: Under the assumption, non-Lambertian is a highly non-linear problem. In this study, we present an optimized framework for reconstructing the surface normal and depth with non-Lambertian reflection models under . By decomposing the images into diffuse and specular components, we compute the surface normal and reflectance simultaneously. We also propose a variational formulation that is robust and useful for surface reconstruction. The experiments show that our method accurately reconstructs both the surface shape and reflectance of colorful objects with non-Lambertian surfaces.

The Quantum Mechanical Basis of Faster Than Light Research

Huang Zhixun

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 4,   Pages 15-25

Abstract:

Quantum mechanics brings hope for the best on realization of faster-than-light (superluminal) Experimental examination of EPR article showes that behind the image some thing advance faster than the speed of light. It is highly important to study the superluminal problems. Theoretical and experimental facts have proved that it is possibleto drive a photon or a pulse traveling faster than light. It is expected that when the plasma is used as the potential barrier in the experiment, the superluminal phenomena may be occur. The paper suggests to conduct an experiment, so as to show the situations when the matter-wave particle (such as the electron) traveling through the potential barrier.

Impact of household transitions on domestic energy consumption and its applicability to urban energy planning

Benachir MEDJDOUB, Moulay Larbi CHALAL

Frontiers of Engineering Management 2017, Volume 4, Issue 2,   Pages 171-183 doi: 10.15302/J-FEM-2017029

Abstract: The household sector consumes roughly 30% of Earth’s energy resources and emits approximately 17% of its carbon dioxide. As such, developing appropriate policies to reduce the CO emissions, which are associated with the world’s rapidly growing urban population, is a high priority. This, in turn, will enable the creation of cities that respect the natural environment and the well-being of future generations. However, most of the existing expertise focuses on enhancing the thermal quality of buildings through building physics while few studies address the social and behavioral aspects. In fact, focusing on these aspects should be more prominent, as they cause between 4% and 30% of variation in domestic energy consumption. Premised on that, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect in the context of the UK of household transitions on household energy consumption patterns. To achieve this, we applied statistical procedures (e.g., logistic regression) to official panel survey data comprising more than 5500 households in the UK tracked annually over the course of 18 years. This helped in predicting future transition patterns for different household types for the next 10 to 15 years. Furthermore, it enabled us to study the relationship between the predicted patterns and the household energy usage for both gas and electricity. The findings indicate that the life cycle transitions of a household significantly influence its domestic energy usage. However, this effect is mostly positive in direction and weak in magnitude. Finally, we present our developed urban energy model “EvoEnergy” to demonstrate the importance of incorporating such a concept in energy forecasting for effective sustainable energy decision-making.

Environmental and Ecological Protection Equipment in Deep Sea

Feng Jingchun, Liang Jianzhen, Zhang Si, Cai Yanpeng, Yang Zhifeng

Strategic Study of CAE 2020, Volume 22, Issue 6,   Pages 56-66 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2020.06.008

Abstract:

The deep sea contains treasures that are far from being recognized and exploited. However, as the new focus of human activities and territory, the deep sea confronts more serious problems and challenges regarding environmental and ecological protection compared with the land and inshore areas. To ensure the coordinated development between deep-sea resource exploitation and environmental protection, this study first introduces the different types of equipment related to environmental and ecological protection in the deep sea, and summarizes the historical and current situations of and challenges faced by this equipment in the international and domestic scope. Additionally, deep-sea equipment related to environmental and ecological protection are introduced from the aspects of in situ detection, sampling, experimental simulation on land, and long-period observation. China lags behind in terms of highprecision deep sea sensor technology and lacks general matching technology for deep sea exploration equipment. Large-scale deep sea environment simulation equipment needs to be improved urgently in China. Moreover, long-period in situ experimental ability related with manned submersibles should be improved. Finally, development strategies and suggestions are proposed from the aspects of innovation capability, top-level design, talents cultivation, and international cooperation.
